Miercurea Ciuc & Pitesti

The Romanian Film Festival brought the spirit of storytelling to two unique locations — Miercurea Ciuc and Pitești — in January 2025, creating unforgettable evenings filled with creativity, connection, and cultural exchange. Both cities provided their own special atmosphere: from the cosy and intimate setting in Miercurea Ciuc to the vibrant and welcoming space in Pitești, the festival became a true celebration of community and visual storytelling.

Miercurea Ciuc

The Romanian Film Festival made a meaningful stop in Miercurea Ciuc, bringing together community members for an evening dedicated to storytelling, creativity, and connection. Held in a cosy and welcoming setting, the event showcased a curated selection of films created during the Citizenship in Action project.

The audience had the chance to experience powerful documentaries and visual stories developed by young people across Europe — from photography and videography trainings in Budapest and Brno to the Young People in Action mobility in Peniche, Portugal. Each film reflected a unique perspective on active citizenship, local culture, and the shared human experience.

Beyond the screen, the festival served as a moment of reflection and conversation. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions about the themes explored in the films, the creative processes behind them, and the impact of visual storytelling in building bridges between communities.

The Miercurea Ciuc screening was more than just a film event — it was a celebration of young voices, shared experiences, and the idea that stories, no matter where they’re from, have the power to inspire and unite.

Pitești

Next stop was Pitești, where the Romanian Film Festival welcomed the guests for an inspiring evening at Smart Hub, a local language school turned into a cozy cinema for the night. With popcorn, sweets, juice, and a relaxed setup, the atmosphere set the stage for an engaging celebration of youth creativity and European connection.

The evening featured a selection of impactful short films and documentaries produced as part of the Citizenship in Action project. From international exchanges to local initiatives, each video captured diverse voices and stories that explored identity, culture, and community through a creative lens. A slideshow of photos taken throughout the project also played quietly in the background, offering another window into the experiences of the participants.

Adding a personal touch to the screenings, Bianca, Cătă, and Ariana—participants of the Young People in Action mobility—shared their filmmaking experiences and spoke about the friendships and lessons gained during the project. Their stories brought the room even closer together and made the screening feel all the more special.

After the films wrapped up, guests stuck around to chat, ask questions, and dive deeper into the themes raised during the evening. The Pitești edition of the Romanian Film Festival proved that when stories are shared in the right space, they not only entertain—they connect and inspire.
