Join us for an adventurous hike on a scenic route near Turňa nad Bodvou with the focus being on safe hiking. Disconnect from your routine and reconnect with nature! Go on a hike with an expert guide and experience a fun and safe adventure that brings like-minded people together. Not only will you experience beautiful scenery, but you’ll also get to experience a social activity where you can meet new friends and build real relationships.

Discover the beauty of the Slovak Karst, one of the richest national parks in Slovakia, thanks to its unique natural and geological treasures. The Zádielská tiesňava hiking trail leads between 300-meter limestone cliffs and in addition to nature lovers, history enthusiasts will also find their place, as our hike starts under the Turniansky Castle.

The core of this program is to inspire participants to embrace a more active and conscious lifestyle by unlocking new experiences, while also looking out for each other and themselves in a hiking environment, therefore participants will have to attend a preparatory meeting to ensure everyone comes prepared and knows how to safely hike.

Participant Profile

  • Optimal age range: 14+ years old

  • Likes outdoor activities, seeks new adventures and wants to learn more about safe hiking.

  • Fully available to participate throughout the duration of the whole program.

  • No prior experience is required, but a basic level of physical fitness is necessary.

Location

  • The activity will take place under Turnian Castle, through the Zádielská tiesňava and back under Turnian Castle – Map
  • Map / 16 km in total. Elevation profile: 540m up and 540m down. Highest point 634 msl.
  • Meeting is at 9:00 AM at the parking lot of Turniansky Hrad – Parkovisko.

Useful information

  • Participation costs: There are no participation costs. Trainings are funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. However all participants are responsible for their own travel costs. To avoid last-minute cancelations, participants who are selected are required to pay a 30 € deposit to confirm their participation. The money is sent back after the activity.

  • Health & Insurance: We do not organize insurance for our participants. If they wish to have coverage, participants must arrange insurance for themselves. However, we ask all participants to bring their European Health Insurance Cards, which can be used if they need hospital care.

  • What to bring: Identification card or passport, pocket money, comfortable and enough clothes for the outdoor activity (according to the weather forecast), hiking shoes, working gloves, water bottle, rain jacket, small backpack (15-20 l).
